Normally I would categorize British metal legends Saxon alongside Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and maybe Accept. Little did I know that these tough guys, with hard rocking anthems like "Wheels of Steel", "Denim and Leather" and the mentioned "Heavy Metal Thunder", didn't go through the eighties without being just a little bit affected by their more er, hairspray- and ballad loving colleagues. This song from 1988 proves that in full. A true power ballad with synthizisers doing most of the work. Sounds a bit like "All I Wanna do is Make Love to You". By Heart. I think there were enough Bon Jovi's around at the time. Don't think they play it live these days. Nice song, though. If you are, indeed, Bon Jovi.

Halford filling Ronnies shoes (1992)
A good singer and a good song isn't always enough. And this clip from the Black Sabbath tour in 1992 proves it. Rob Halford should never sing "Heaven and Hell" again. Ever. I love Halford, I love Dio, I love the song, but this just doesn't work!
A true hidden backward message
The Beatles did it. Judas Priest were accused of doing it, and were even dragged into court because of this. Some people with a vivid imagination had found hidden backward messages in "Better than you, better than me". Well done.
But this is a true backward message. Seriously. Be amazed. And it's a really satanic message aswell. Why haven't anyone sued this guy for putting such occultism in his music?

Band name of the week: "Devil Lee Rot"
It's 2010. All the the cool band names are naturally taken. Including "Devil Lee Rot". An angry bunch of swedes singing about "black denim and church burning", but at least they have a sense of humour! Check out their MySpace here.

I'm addicted to metal. So Sweden pays my bills.
According to swedish newspaper The Local, Roger Tullgren, 42, from Hässleholm is addicted to metal. And he has it on paper. And because of this "illness", The Employment Service pays part of his salary.
He's even got a special clause in his work contract which allows him to play loud heavy metal at work! I want one of those!
